Doctors need our help so they can diagnose what is wrong with us. When we go in and tell our doctor our symptoms, that helps put him or her on the right track so they can begin ruling out possible problems and so they can narrow down what might be wrong with us. Peripheral neuropathy usually begins with tingling, numbness, or prickling in the toes or fingers. This numbness may spread up to the hands or feet and feel like burning, freezing, throbbing and/or shooting pain that is often worse at night. The pain may come and go or it may be constant. Some types of peripheral neuropathy begin suddenly and others can take years to become a problem.
